See the Incident Log for Independent Lifeboat Organisation Solent Rescue including all call outs and all incidents including Solent Lifeboat Rescue at sea and on land in the Solent area.

Whilst proceeding back to station, Solent Rescue 1 comes across casualty with trapped mainsail and requested to stand by in case aid is required.

14:15 - Solent Rescue 1 waved down by vessel with trapped mainsail and requested to stand by.

14:25 - Sail released, vessel carries on way, Solent Rescue continues to carry on to Lepe.

Solent Rescue come across vessel taking on water in the Medina just of the ferry terminal.

10:30 - Solent Rescue 1 informed Solent Coastguard of intentions to enter the Medina at Cowes to refuel. Solent Coastguard Acknowledged.

10:45 - Solent Rescue 1 refueled and heading back into Solent.

10:50 - Solent Rescue 1 waved down by small racing dinghy that had been holed below the water line and was rapidly taking on water and in danger of sinking. Three persons on board. Radio'd Solent Coastguard of incident and proceeded to assist.

10:51 - On scene, vessel rapidly taken under tow to halt vessel being pulled into the path of passing ferry.

10:55 - Vessel taking under tow to shallower waters.

11:10 - In conjunction with Coastguard Cowes mobile unit, vessel stabilised in shallower waters by weight being transferred away from bow, upon inspection, fibre glass panels were agreed upon to repair damage.

13:30 - repairs completed, Solent Rescue 1 tows casualty to agreed berth.

14:00 - Solent Rescue 1 heads into Solent to resume patrol.

 

Pan Pan 100 metres west of Gurnard cardinal buoy.

14:00 - Solent Rescue tasked by Solent Coastguard to a 24ft sailing vessel that had lost all propulsion, steering and power in moderate seas 100m west of Gurnard Northern Cardinal Buoy. 4 PERSONS ONBOARD.

14:05 - Solent Rescue one afloat and making best speed to last known position.

14:06 - Raised vessel on Channel 67 to gain an updated position.

14:10 - On scene, sit-rep to follow.

14:12 - Suspected rope around prop identified.

14:13 - Along side tow agreed upon and springs set.

14:15 - Informed by CG that Cowes Lifeboat would be with us in approximately 4 minutes.

14:15 - Tow underway.

14:19 - Cowes lifeboat on scene and agreed to shadow Solent Rescue 1 to ensure a clear path into Cowes could be achieved through shepherding away other vessels.

14:35 - Vessel placed alongside quay agreed upon with Cowes harbour master.

14:36 - Solent Rescue further investigation concluded engine failure was caused by rope around prop.

14:40 - Prop freed.

14:45 - Engine tested and gearing engaged.

14:50 - Vessel proceeded under own power down the medina to its overnight scheduled berth.

14:55 - Solent Rescue One released to resume patrol.

Solent Rescue tasked to Pan Pan off the Brambles Bank.

 

14:30 Solent Rescue informed SCG of routine patrol in the western Solent.

14:45 Solent Rescue tasked to vessel calling Pan Pan aground on the Brambles Bank. Solent Rescue One acknowledges and proceeds.

14:55 On scene, vessel not hard aground, a line is attached with the skippers agreement.

15:00 Vessel free of bank and proceeds on its way under own steam.

 

Solent Coastguard tasked Solent Rescue to a report of a sunbmerged vessel off the Beaulieu River mud banks and move further inshore.

 

10:00 Solent Rescue afloat, crew numbers passed to Coastguard.

10:03 Solent Rescue tasked by Solent Coastguard to investigate reports of sunken racing dinghy off the Beaulieu mud flats. Solent Rescue Acknowledge co-ordinates and informed SCG that they were proceeding at this time.

10:11 Solent Rescue on scene, sit-rep to follow.

10:15 After further investigation and further communications with SCG, vessel was identified as a Laser racing dinghy SB3 that had sunk during the Round the Island race and had only rematerialised after heavy seas moved her into shallow waters, thus allowing her stern to protrude the surface of the water.

10:20 Solent Rescue took vessel in a tow astern, destination Lepe beach for additional inspection of the vessels hull integrity.

10:40 Solent Rescue places vessel into shallower waters where, upon clearance of tow lines, shore crew moved vessel above the high water line for collection.

15:30 With assistance from Coastguard mobile units, vessel moved off the beach.

Solent Rescue were established in 1971 initially as a beach rescue unit operated by auxiliary coastguards. Solent Rescue has since then developed into a fully operational independent lifeboat station, which operates under the direct control of HM Coastguard and is responsible for approximately 33 square miles of the central and western Solent.
