See the Incident Log for Independent Lifeboat Organisation Solent Rescue including all call outs and all incidents including Solent Lifeboat Rescue at sea and on land in the Solent area.

Saturday 22nd May

With the fine weather and calm sea state, crew set about keeping observations in the west as a large number of mariners were afloat.

Solent Rescue base were made aware of a vessel that had run aground on Gurnard Ledge and was being left high and dry by the receding tide.

The coxswain of the day informed Solent Coastguard that we had a vessel afloat and were happy to go and assist in the setting of a ketch anchor.  We were thanked by SCG and informed that Hamble Lifeboat was already en-route.

We kept them under observation for the day, nothing untoward occurred regarding this incident.

Land based crew were kept extremely busy with the weight of people visiting the park with multiple incidents requiring varying levels of support.  Our first aid teams were pretty much flat out but did an outstanding job directing further medical resources to a more serious incident that occurred.  WELL DONE ALL.

Crew completed training on equipment operation and spent the day honing skills (some of which is the team building art form that is taking the biscuit out of one an other).

Sunday 23rd May

Crew opened the lookout and proceeded to provide the same level of service as per Saturday, there were still a number of medical incidents but fortunately none of these were serious.

Saturday 15th May 2010

Boat was launched and completed two patrols of the Western Solent.  Whilst on the morning circuit, SR1 came across a rib with engine failure, we stood off the vessel until the skipper remedied the problem and was merrily on his way back into Cowes.

No further incidents and Solent Rescue closed down at the normal time.

Sunday 16th May 2010

Boat was launched and two patrols of the Western Solent were completed, no incidents were reported and we closed down for the evening.

It was a good day for training as the sea state changed significantly, the afternoon patrol saw a good moderate state, resulting in new crew getting a taste of how quickly circumstances can alter.

Friday 7th May 2010

Crew spent the day at the 2010 Ribex event at Cowes Yacht Haven, chatting to the general public and explaining that not every lifeboat that comes to your aid is an RNLI boat.

Saturday 8th May 2010

Saturday saw the lifeboat go on patrol in the Western Solent as well as take part in a SAR display at Ribex, Michaela from Ryde Rescue received a soaking from our Mick as he entered the water to play an unconscious casualty.

Nothing occurred in the West and we shut down without incident.

Sunday 8th May 2010

The main boat was off service for the day whilst a pipe was replaced (nothing major), but we still put out the Avon Sea-rider on fast medical and casualty response.

Surplus crew were ferried across to Cowes courtesy of a Seadogz charter rib.

Look out was closed and boat was recovered without further incident.

Saturday 01/05/10

After contact with the country park wardens and the Hampshire Constabulary, crew members set about repairing the mindless vandalism committed upon the boat sheds and one of our rescue vessels.

The entire day was taken up ensuring that the properties were made safe and further security devices were in place.

Sunday 02/05/10

Crew put on the first aid station and look out but again, spent most of the day checking for any malicious damage to safety equipment before usage.

Monday 03/05/10

Crew took vessels afloat on limited SAR operations, testing out repairs and flushing out any potential problems.

Saturday 24th April 2010

Solent Rescue 1 & 2 were launched and released to Solent Coastguard for tasking.

Crew trained throughout the day on the vessels and completed two patrols of the Western Solent, no incidents requiring intervention were recorded at sea.

On land, crew manned the lookout and provided first aid cover to the country park.  In this capacity, Solent Rescue were made aware of an incident upon the beach involving a kayaker.  Upon arrival on scene, first aid was already being applied by community responders.  Solent Rescue crew directed further resource to the area as it arrived on scene.

Solent Coastguard were kept informed and crew assisted with the recovery of the casualties equipment whilst treatment was applied within the ambulance.

 Sunday 25th April 2010

Lookout was opened for first aid in the park, again, in this capacity we were called upon to pick out a young lad who decided to run head first off the cliff next to our position.  Luckily the gorse bushes cushioned his fall, unluckily the same vegetation resulted in some cuts and scrapes.  He was patched up and sent on his way with a bit of common sense ringing in his ears.
