25-04-09 - Recovery of canoe upon Lepe Beach

13:05 - Solent Rescue shore crew spotted canoist capsized between the Beaulieu river entrance and our lookout.

13:10 - Crew member in dry suit arrives on scene in drysuit and helps the canoist to get their canoe up the sea defence. All safe and well no life in danger at any point.

13:20 - Solent Rescue 2 launched to provide observation for the canoist until they reached the calmer waters of the Beaulieu River entrance.

13:50 - Solent Rescue 2 returns to station, all well.

Solent Rescue were established in 1971 initially as a beach rescue unit operated by auxiliary coastguards. Solent Rescue has since then developed into a fully operational independent lifeboat station, which operates under the direct control of HM Coastguard and is responsible for approximately 33 square miles of the central and western Solent.
