Solent Rescue - Independent Lifeboat Rescue Organisation

New Typhoon drysuits and Baltic Life jackets were presented to the crew of Solent Rescue by Bournemouth based C.F.K Promotions during February, this continued the critical ongoing supporting role has been developed between these two organisations over the last two years.

Cameron Critchfield from Solent Rescue stated:

“CFK have donated in excess of £5,000 to our small lifeboat charity, we really appreciate the time and effort that CFK has invested in us.  Going forward, we hope to further enhance our working relationship as without their support, our crew members would not be able to so effectively concentrate on the primary goal of the unit”.

Solent Rescue crew members give up their time all year round to ensure that they are able to put a vessel at the disposal of Her Majesty’s Coastguard when on active service.

"Looking after the busiest recreational water way in the world is by no means an easy task, these people deserve all the help we can give them"

said Mrs Mcmenamin from C.F.K Promotions.

We had a can shake in Hythe on Saturday 20 February 2010 where the residents helped us raise £670.00. Some of the crew including Cam, Damo, Micky, and Annabelle dressed up in their new kit and Tim, Trevor and myself wore the new fluorescent orange over jackets which clearly say 'Solent Rescue Lifeboat' on them. Thankfully the sun shone although it was cold and the people of Hythe were friendly and very interested in Solent Rescue.

The next can shake is on Saturday March 6th at Lymington lets hope we can be as fortunate with the weather and raise more much needed funds.

From The Daily Echo:

Volunteers behind the life-saving Solent Rescue are asking for some help themselves - as they try to repair their weather damaged lookout post.  The Lepe Beach sea rescue crew, which works every weekend and around the clock during busy sailing events like Cowes Week and the Round the Island Race, needs to raise £5000.00 to fix damage to the roof, worktops and equipment.

The team covers a 33square mile area across to the Isle of Wight and down to Hurst Castle.  Please contact the Secretary Kate Walker if you can help.

Solent Lifeboat Solent Rescue One

Foreword.

What a season,

I don’t really think you can designate the operation of Solent Rescue within the historical singular annual season methodology anymore. It is now more seasonal.

We believe the official reports should reflect this, and on that note, I introduce you to the bi-annual reporting system! This first report will be classed as “Summer”, and the next report will be classed as “Winter”.

So, here goes….

Summer Report 2009.

Introduction

Solent Rescue prepared extensively for the 2009 summer season by running a busy maintenance schedule on all aspects of the lifeboat. This is inherently a complex and specialised activity regarding logistical analysis.

Crew rose to the challenge and from the ground up, all assets were overhauled and any gripes resolved. Even with major projects regarding the replacement of a complete jet drive that would have been a nightmare in previous years, was evaluated and completed within a week of the decision being made. That includes, purchase, delivery, fitting and calibration.  A special thank you to O2 "It's your community" and Exxon-Mobil for putting substantial funds towards this vital purchase.

With all of the effort, we were in the best possible position to start in earnest upon the Easter bank holiday.

Well done all.
