Solent Coastguard tasked Solent Rescue to a report of a sunbmerged vessel off the Beaulieu River mud banks and move further inshore.

 

10:00 Solent Rescue afloat, crew numbers passed to Coastguard.

10:03 Solent Rescue tasked by Solent Coastguard to investigate reports of sunken racing dinghy off the Beaulieu mud flats.  Solent Rescue Acknowledge co-ordinates and informed SCG that they were proceeding at this time.

10:11 Solent Rescue on scene, sit-rep to follow.

10:15 After further investigation and further communications with SCG, vessel was identified as a Laser racing dinghy SB3 that had sunk during the Round the Island race and had only rematerialised after heavy seas moved her into shallow waters, thus allowing her stern to protrude the surface of the water.

10:20 Solent Rescue took vessel in a tow astern, destination Lepe beach for additional inspection of the vessels hull integrity.

10:40 Solent Rescue places vessel into shallower waters where, upon clearance of tow lines, shore crew moved vessel above the high water line for collection.

15:30 With assistance from Coastguard mobile units, vessel moved off the beach.
