Solent Rescue 1, whilst moving towards Cowes for refuel is flagged down by a support vessel who have come across a vessel with engine failure and a twisted spinnaker, unable to stop and becoming a hazard to crew and other shipping.

12:10 - Solent Rescue 1 flagged down by support RIB and informed of a vessel with a spinnaker twisted in the open position and suffering engine failure.

12:15 - On scene and informed coastguard.

12:25 - vessel taken in a tow astern and proceed to take vessel out of path of main flow of racing into more sheltered water.

12:40 - Vessel held off Eqypt Point whilst crew remove the spinnaker.

13:10 - Crew of vessel release spinnaker and vessel taken into Cowes with an alongside tow.

13:45 - Vessel placed at agreed berth.

13:55 - SR1 released.
