25/10/08 - Vessel with gear failure

Solent Rescue tasked to vessel with gear failure.

13:30 - Solent Rescue 1 raised by Solent Coastguard to attend vessel at anchor North West of the West Ryde Middle Buoy.

13:38 - Solent Rescue 1 on scene, sit-rep to follow.

13:40 - After conferring with casualty skipper, he is happy for an alongside tow to be established, Coastguard informed.

13:45 - Tow underway.

14:10 - Solent Rescue 1 informs Solent Coastguard of final destination of casualty.

14:20 - Solent Rescue 1 places casualty alongside agreed berth and released with thanks.
 

25/10/08 Vessel with propulsion failure

Vessel drifting across the Brambles Bank with propulsion failure.

10:30 - Solent Rescue raised by Solent Coastguard to attend to a vessel drifting from East of the Brambles Bank in a westerly direction.

10:40 - Solent Rescue 1 afloat, proceeding at this time.

10:42 - Potential vessel spotted now to the west of the Brambles Bank.

10:47 - On scene with vessel, sit-rep to follow .

10:48 - Rope around prop resulted in propulsion failure, crew assist casualty to free prop.

10:52 - Vessel freed of rope and engine and gear engaged, propulsion restored.

10:53 - Informed SCG of above and asked to shadow vessel into Cowes and pass over to Newport Mobile units.

11:05 - Vessel safely along side berth, passed over details to the Coastguard and returned to the Solent on patrol.
 

11/10/08 - Vessel aground upon Lepe Spit

Solent Rescue 1, co-ordinated by own lookout position to vessel aground upon Lepe Spit.

14:35 - Solent Rescue 1 returning from crew training in Gurnard Bay raised on Channel 0 by own lookout to go to private channel.
14:36 - Solent Rescue 1 acknowledges and changes frequency.
14:36 - Solent Rescue 1 requested to investigate a 5 metre + rib that appears to be aground on the Lepe Spit.
14:37 - Solent Rescue 1 on scene and places a crew member ashore to communicate with vessel pilot.
14:40 - Crew member ascertains boat was unintentially grounded and as the tide is going out the owner was unable to refloat. Also, one engine appeared to have lost power to it's auto tilt system and was acting as an anchor in the loose stone of the spit.
14:42 - Southampton Mobile Coastguard unit transports two additional crew members to the scene in case further assistance is required.
14:45 - With permission from the owner, Solent Rescue 1 attached a tow line to the vessel and slowly eased the vessel into deeper water.
14:50 - Vessel checked propulsion on both engines, all is well and proceeded on way with thanks given to the crew.
15:00 - Solent Rescue 1 returned to mooring after observing vessel until well on way.
   

20/09/08 - Small child with head injury

14:45 - Small child brought to look-out position with bleeding head injury received from impact with concrete slab. Solent Rescue contacted ambulance service and proceeded to apply first aid to stem bleeding.

14:50 - Ambulance first responders on scene and continue treatment. Child taken to hospital via ambulance.
 

20/09/08 - Solent Rescue tasked to 30 metre pipeline

11:45 - Whilst on patrol in the Western Solent, Solent Rescue comes across 30 metres of pipeline with a diameter of 12 inches resting upon the surface. Solent Rescue informs Coastguard.

11:50 - Solent Rescue requested by the Coastguard to stay on scene to ensure no vessels collide with the securite item.

12:00 - Pipeline is attached at one end to the sea bed and appears to have broken away from its anchorage on the sea floor.

16:55 - Solent Rescue stood down by the Coastguard who would broadcast a securite message throughout the night until the pipeline is secured to the seabed.
